In its bid to evolve the government’s technological capabilities, the Victorian government is pledging $5.2 million to digitise business licencing through Services Victoria. This initiative is aimed to cut down waiting times, allowing businesses more time to focus on their growth. The budget also provides $75 million over the next four years to overhaul government regulation – making things like starting a small business or doing a home renovation more straightforward. The investment will also establish a dedicated team to slash red tape and help businesses navigate the simplified system.

“We want to support business owners who have done it tough this year by making things as easy and efficient as possible as we rebuild our economy,” said Assistant Treasurer Danny Pearson.

Victoria is also bolstering its cybersecurity with a $7.5 million investment to combat the global increase in cyber threats.
